Gold Coast Beverage Distribution Facility

When John Sapputo was seeking to build his new Gold Coast Beverage Distribution facility in Lakewood Ranch, he sought the services of Halfacre Construction. The requirement was to build a 150,000 square foot cold storage building with 11,000 square feet of offices, nothing new to Halfacre. “We have completed many cold storage buildings in our history” says Jack Cox, President of Halfacre. John didn’t want to build a simple warehouse, his desire was to build the nicest beverage distribution facility in the country.

From the outset, he wanted to incorporate a Tuscan flavor into the design. He created a large outdoor courtyard between 2 wings of the front portion of the building. There is a covered walkway connecting a banquet area and tasting room to the administrative offices. Another requirement was to have 25 foot ceilings in the tasting area with hand painted ceilings. The building is a poured in place Tilt Wall design and portions of the outside walls are 16” thick concrete/insulated panels 40’ tall. The internal temperature requirement is 65F 24 hours a day.

John wanted a Class A office environment for his employees and customers so the level of detail in the offices is very high. He has incorporated details like coffered ceilings, wanes coating, tall baseboards, marble, granite and large cove moldings throughout. This project has been a privilege to work on and has received many accolades from the construction community in Sarasota.
